Sonic the hedgehog is the game that "started it all" in 1991. This was Segas mastermind creation that literally sold the Megadrive as people were that desperate to play it.

His speedy antic sand running loop the loops at rapid speed entranced young audiences from across the world. There are several zones to run, spin and jump through and all of them unique with their own boss encounter at the end.

The goal is to defeat Robotnik at the end of every level and free the animals imprisoned in his robot making machine. Then there is the chaos emeralds which you get a shot at if you collect 50 rings before the end of each level.
