I got an account by asking nicely on slashdot.org in one of the topics about gmail. I am still astounded it worked.
My mate got an account pretty damn quickly from www.gmailswap.com maybe you could try that.
My account is only a few days old and I havnt been given any invites to hand out yet, and like Skinner8 people I know take presedence.

(I couldnt send a 10meg rar archive last time I tried) But I don't want to use it for evil anyway so I perfer that they don't allow abuse. Mostly because I want to keep using the service and not have it retracted because other people abused it to death.

But anyway, one of my invitations just went to Cosmic, so there's one left. I'm amazed he's the only one to PM me about it so far, by the way.
Ok, so here's the plan:
People who have any sort of connection to me have roughly one hour to send me a PM with their e-mail addresses. The first person to send me such a thing will get the last invitation. If I hear no other requests (mind you, it's my invitation, so I can turn down anything I want) in this roughly estimated hour, the invitation goes to what'shisface. Alternatively, you can pay me for an account.
