Also, Richard Cheese is an interesting cover artist. Lounge style. And Frank Zappa does some weird covers. Apocalyptica, interesting Metallica cover band, with some of their own stuff.

Nirvana's cover of 'The Man Who Sold the World' (David Bowie) is great. Johnny Cash does a ton of cool covers, including The Beatles' 'In My Life.' Foo Fighters cover Prince's 'Darling Nikki' or whatever it is. Hendrix's cover of Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower' is clearly classic. Beatles cover some Chuck Berry, Green Day does a decent cover of The Who's 'My Generation,' and The Cardigans do some strangely almost likeable covers of 'The Boys are Back in Town' (Thin Lizzie) and 'Iron Man' (like you need the artist for this one.)

So that's a bit long, sorry. Just some personal likes or ones that I found interesting enough to give a listen to.
thanks, you just helped me remember that nirvana did some awesome covers. i really like their covers of Where Did You Sleep Last Night? and Lake of Fire.

Yeah, Nirvana had some great ones, but I never liked D-7 in the first place... I'd say "the man who sold the world" is up there... Was "Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam" a cover, too? That song is just great.

I hate to say it, but I think Korn's cover of "The Wall" is pretty good...

Worst cover that's too popular: 311's cover of The Cure's "Love Song," I think I just didn't feel 311 or the Cure in it, it felt so alien...

I'm perfectly aware that I make people sick.

Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam was a cover of The Vasolines. also, 311 is a terrible band, and that is a terrible cover.

Dude I hated AE's cover of Aces High... it was real bad IMO. :/ Harsh vocals and Iron Maiden don't mix... I sort of liked AE's cover of Manowar's "Kill With Power", but the original is so much better. Speaking of Manowar, I have a tribute CD with covers from several different bands, most of which are really good but suffer from thick accents in the vocal department.

To be honest I've always enjoyed Arch Enemy's Aces High cover, but I have to say I prefer their version of Judas Priest's Starbreaker. I'll agree that the vocals aren't Dickinson or Halford by any stretch of imagination but I've always liked covers that add to the original song or interpret it in a slightly different way. It's probably for this reason that I love Children of Bodom's Aces High cover. Especially the guitar/keyboard solos, which are fucking awesome just like they are in almost every other CoB song.

I quite liked it, sure it wasn't anywhere as good as the original but just be thankfull it was their old vocalist and not the new one.
