Isometric MMORPG would allow everyone to be in the game

Buuuuuuuuut, since we seem to have problems with the RPG genre...

Something like Master of Orion with roms and isos... would be interesting.

Press 111 if you want to make "Rom Fighter"(my name for any beat em up game we think about making, having games beat each other up o.0)

Press 222 if you like the Master of Orioneqsue idea.

Press 333 if you want an RPG style game.

Press 444 if you think this game should have nothing to do with emuparadise at all(i.e not based on emuparadise stuff).

ABANDON ALL HOPE, I'M NOT SURE WHY

that's like the stupidest Idea ever...... anyway, I would like to see this game come to be, I was a part of helping, at the last attempt of making a EP game, but as Frankie Wilde, said, every one wants to be in the game, but then they don't want to help, I was the one that got all the names for the characters, and what kind of character they wanted to be, if anyone wants that list, i still have it, but as far as making the game goes, your all on your own, I'm rooting for all of you! The game sounds like it'll be good as an RPG, I'd love that, like Observer_X said, an MMORPG, that's be great!

heh, I'll have to look into game maker, I've dabbled in RPGmaker before, I got a nice thing off of a friend which is basically code for a game (2nd year coursework) which basically the tutor gave to them and told them to make a game, which consisted of code and a few pictures

But yeah, I've been busy and I doubt this is something I can whip up in a week

I'll see what I can do and possibly Recruit people to do other things ?

Here's a hint, Game maker makes slow and crappy running games. RPG maker... i wouldn't know... If i were you, i'd just make the code from scratch. As for the online part, neither makes online games. As for making an online based game... if you ever figure out how to get the program to have internet access, tell me. I'm still trying to figure out how in C++ to make a program that'll send information to a port on another computer (running a server or client side program) and a program that will receive information.

cool, I'm still in the process of teaching myself C++ and its a bitch cos I've been busy with other things, lucky I have a nice week to myself next week, which I intend to use wisely

But yeah, when I can. I'll try and post random code, cos I want to make this an open source project from the start

I think a MMORPG could be to hard to realise on the moment, but another type of game ( off-line ) could work out if you have enough people to work on it.

I'm thinking about making an RPG/FPS game. Yea... all in one... And graphic wise, it's probably gonna suck. But it's going to have an interesting storyline... With an ending no one will expect.

What about a mod for a known game? Like a mod for Quake 3, or UT. :>

What's the fun of modding? Then you can't say "look at this really really cool thing i made!" lol

Did you ever made a complete mod for an FPS? It's way more than just making a small RPG game with RPGmaker. Most fo the time you'll need to modify the engine to fit what you want to do, and hell, that's awesome.
As a matter of fact, Soldier of Fortune 2, Call of Duty and many other games are really a mod of the Quake 3 engine. And they're being sold...

That's sad, actually. But still. What's the fun if you can't say "i made this from scratch! I'm an elite programmer cause i made a game and you're lucky to know some one like me! mwahahahaha!" I mean, jeeze... I know you'll end up having idiots bugging you to make games and stuff for them, but when you make a game from scratch using VB or C++ or somthing like that, people respect you more cause it works better than modifying some enguin which wasn't made for those specific purposes that you're using it for. Makes it less efficiant. I mean, the more you mod it, the more it's like AOL's browser. Laggy...

First, let me just laugh at everyone suggesting an MMORPG.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'd be willing to bet that Theo doesn't really have access to a 100Mbit/s server and a few people who'd be willing to debug/fix such a thing.

About modding: If you can write a better engine than what John Carmack did, do it. If you can't, just mod away. As a note, making a 3D engine takes at least a year for a team of 4-5 people.

As for the MMORPG thing... It could be like IRC and FPS games. You could allow quick leveling up and anyone could host a game. Depending on the complexity of the game, you could have a maximum of 6 to 30 people per server side for a common cable connection.

True, but that's why you do it. I'm sure if you use C++ you can make the ultimate 3d programming in C++. The idea is to make the most basic code as you can and it's not like you can't do that with direct x... then again... you really can't... No one can use the direct x sdk. It's uncompileable... X'D Of couse we could all mod the SDK, but that'd be a drag to find out everywhere they screwed up...
