And to upload them, we either use an independent site (Silent Whisper, Photobucket, or Imageshack are nice) or upload them directly here using attachments in the Sig Testing thread stickied in this very forum.

you're in college, do you use computers at college for designing or would you be using these photo editing apps at your own computer? if at your own comp, do yourself a favor, get familiar with the bit torrent system and find ways around buying a 600 dollar app

Or if you do have your own comp you could use free alternatives in order to support and promote free software, as well as avoid pirating...

thats true. i mean, if you're not planning on doing lots of designs on a superior app, then you could always go for free alternatives that aren't exactly better but still may get the job done.

I'm not a graphics master so I can't objectively compare the GIMP and Photoshop.

But I guess more or less I'll have to agree. If you absolutely need Photoshop, buy it. If you don't need it that bad, you should be fine with the GIMP.

i'm experienced with graphics and have always used adobe products. it was recently that i tried using the GIMP and i stopped quickly in disgust cuz i couldn't believe how bad...it was compared to photoshop lol this is just my personal opinion. PS has more features but money, if pirating isn't an option, is also an issue so go for whats best for you and your current situation.

Please refrain from providing such advice. We don't encourage warez distribution/piracy here.

How much of that do you think had to do with the fact you've gotten quite used to using photoshop and GIMP is different?

For instance if you used Windows all of your life, Linux would be foreign and weird, and vice versa. Or if you were a pitcher in baseball, pitching in softball would be strange and different, even though all you're doing is throwing a ball...
