I was just wondering that in theory could someone write drivers so you could use the EyeToy as a webcam or something. I know that it is USB and appears to use a kind of MPEG2 compression for the video. Do you think it would be possible to write a driver so you could use it on your PC?

I suppose someone could, but my question is why? You can get a decent webcam at Walmart for $16.

I do understand the whole 'because it is there' mentality, so I can see the intrigue.

The eyetoy i've heard will work with windows 98 and maybe 2000 only for right now. And you'll need to search driverguide.com for the drivers. Xp detects the camera as a logitech but it will not work, not even with 98 drivers. Maybe some programmer or a hex editor who has nothing to do on a saturday might port the 98 drivers to xp, who knows when that will happen.

Graphics, and 3D polygons don't make great games, story-lines do!!
