I agree w/ Sprung on this one. Just close, no ban. Otherwise we'd lose like, 30% of the members.

You know what annoys me even more then new members reviving old ass threads? Threads whining about it. If you see an old thread revived, then ignore it and let a mod or admin take care of it. If there's not one around at the time, then PM them, and they'll get to it as soon as possible.

I wouldn't ban someone because they revived an old thread. It's not as annoying as you guys make it out to be, so I don't think it's worth that harsh a penalty. That is, unless they constantly continued to do so after having been warned against it.

I think the thing to do is to see if there's any merit to a thread's revival, and then decide what to do from there. Sometimes there's nothing at all wrong with a threads revival, depending of course on what it's in regards to....

No definitly not a ban, n00bs have to learn not to do it. So mods or admins have to warn him and close the thread.

I never thought I'd say this, but I agree with everything Cyber says.

Honestly, I don't see how someone who is asking "newbies" to use common sense when posting can come up with a suggestion as absurd as this one in the first place.

So. Lets say there's the FTP thread in Computer Tech. Say no one posted in it for about 3 months, then someone wanting help posts, and he gets auto banned? Like that? Yeah that works...

I have not read through the whole thread. So something like this has probably already been said.

How about we auto-delete threads that haven't been posted in for 2 months. Barring stickies, of course. There must be a hack for this.

We would lose a TON of useful information.

Depends all on the Topic. Say if it were the "Your Desktop" thread and they posted in there then that wouldn't be bad but say if it were a thread about Ps2 emulation that is way old and for some odd reason they think it's working. then Punishment may be in need. but some people lack in Common sense

I don't even see the problem, it's not like it happens all the time.

I dont actually see a great deal wrong with a thread revival every now and again. Its certainly not worth moaning about...and we should use a little bit of discretion when it comes to new members. Members who have probably found us through a search engine and dont actually know as to when a thread was created or the last post was made. I know! Lets ban them! Great advertisment for the site and its wonderfully welcoming attitude to new members!

    I like it.

At least that poll made some people whine...
I see alot of members going on about newbies bringing up old posts, saying plenty of things, but when it's time to talk about it to the rest of the EP community ....

A good way of maybe preventing all of those weird situations where someone brings up an old post or talk about SN would be to make a thread in super big and red where the title says something like:
    READ THAT OR BE BANNED

Maybe some people would read the rules this way.
What makes me really mad about old post diggers, is not that they bring up really old posts, it's more when they ask for reseeds or trading for a member which:
    1) Is banned
    2) Is dead
    3) Posted 1 time on EP ~_~

Bah, so like almost everyone suggested, when i see an old post I should PM a mod so he can close that?
Look out for your pm's mods.

On another subject...Why is there such alot of emoticons? Like most of them cnanot be used in normal conversations.

Should those people using such smileys be banned? j/k
