Default windows 98 help... (network and user options) pic added..

i have a home network with 4 computers (2 w/ xp, 2 w/ 98, the 98's are wired and the xp's are wireless). 3 of the 4 aare on the same network/workgroup (we'll call it network A), but one of my computers with 98 is on it's own network (network B). i need to change that one to network A (not change the 3 to network B). however, i can't go to network neighborhood properties or even control panel settings (access denied). i think i need to log in as an admin or moderator, but i don't know how to change users. when i boot up my computer, i don't have an option; it just starts up to the desktop. help please?

    98 supports users?
seriously though, being on different workgroups won't make it be on different networks. all the computers can still access each other.

that's what my network looks like.. i hope you appreciate the pic because it took like a half an hour to get that slow piece of shit to email myself a pic.. anyway, that Cb54 comp is the one i need to switch workgroups. i don't know why it's listed twice.. that makes things more confusing.. i guess i can view my 3 working computers from the pos one, but i can't access the files (they are restricted..).. i ran the network setup disk i made and ran on my other computers to set up my workgroup, but my pos comp doesn't seem to change at all after running the network setup .exe... i can't view my pos computer from any of my three working computers. help please?

are you sure you're not running a firewall or anything? If it shows up on the network like that then it should be ok. You shouldn't need to change workgroups just to access a different workgroup.

windows firewall should auto configure to allow network shares, so you're ok. I honestly dont know how to change workgroups on win98 which is why I havn't answered your question to begin with , but i do know that being on different workgroups does not hinder file and print sharing.

hit f8 while windows is loading, it should let you get into safe mode as administrator

if you reformat? You can always back up your files before formatting.
