    Default Dc ++ download speeds

    Although I only have a 1/2 meg adsl connection, I've noticed that download speeds for Direct Connect in general are getting very poor.

    I take it this is due to many people sitting in about 20 hubs with slots open for each . . .as with some downloads I don't even hit the 1kb/sec mark.

    Is this a correct assumption . . .??

    Hmm, I don't know that much about connection speeds, but it prolly is ur connection, since it seems slow. I have adsl as well, but I can get speeds of up to more than 40 kb/sec.

    Oh sure . . .I can get speeds up to 56k per sec - if I'm connected to the right person.

    It's just that a lot of users you can only download from very slowly . . .and I assume that is because they have so many slots open.

    Default DC connection speeds

    I think it might have to do with the other person's ISP speed and also distance. Someone in Italy you will not be able to download very fast from.

    I have noticed one person could achieve high download speeds from me but then when I d/l a file from them it was too slow to continue.

    Does anyone want to meet me in DC and share files ? Let me know.

    Your download speed depends on the other users Upload speed. 512Kbit upload speed will get you 64KB download max (it will never happen). Now divide that over the 10 to 20 slots people have open. Remember outside the USA upload speeds are generally low. It just cost more for them to have unlimited bandwith with high upload speeds that us Americans take for granted.
