    Default I'm taking a break from Free-For-All.

This whole situation with the IRC room is ****ed up. I need a few days to cool off.

Oh, makes sense. I'd be mad too. I sort of am to an extent.

Hmm ... I'm gone for a day and I miss all that. Some people are apparently taking that "freedom of speech" thing way too far. Swearing profusely should be discouraged and I think that it's right that we at least censor The Dragon for such careless action. He should follow the rules of acceptable conduct, and swearing is reasonable grounds for such action by a moderator. Especially when he tossed it about with such attitude. Well, Sarcast claimed that he didn't actually ban The Dragon, and that he left. And so we are left with another ghost of a bad/shady character on the emuparadise boards. Tainted forever. And rightfully so. Swearing shows a lack of respect, and there is a standard code/etiquette that should be followed. His blatant violation of such principles elicit such action by a moderator.

However, I still believe that Sarcast got a bit too riled up about that. He wasn't going on a power trip or anything, but he was so passionate about the argument as to essentially ignore and threaten others. I respect him for his position regarding the issue, but perhaps he should have demonstrated a bit more respect and moderation (after all, he is a moderator) in his posts. We should be treated as equals.

    Davemc summed it up best:

thats just disgusting, what the dragon posted
Concise and beautiful words. Thank you. I share that position regarding the issue. I wish I could vote for you again.

well i think davemc was saying that about the link he posted. Which i think sarcast has hidden so no one else had to see the pic. Trust me it was really disgusting. I dont even want to describe it. But it was porn.

I'm sorry - I wasn't there. Maybe that's a good thing. I stand corrected. Thank you very much.

But still, that's my position regarding the Dragon's actions. He did "post" them in the IRC room. I suppose I'm taking Davemc's words out of context, but I believe that what the Dragon did as a whole was inexcusable.

cussing is for the lower ranks of society.
So, because I cuss, that means I'm one of the "lower ranks of society". What pissed me off was this attitude, and the fact that he would've banned the guy just for arguing with him. I PMed the guy before he got banned. I asked him to delete the topic before someone got banned. He PMed me baking saying that he couldn't do it, it would be "backing down". I PMed him back and said that it wouldn't be backing down, but he was right in a way because it would be viewed that way. I still asked him to delete the topic, and at the bottom of my PM I said something BAD was going to happen. It happened. Sarcast was right in saying no cussing, it's his chat channel after all. But his attitude is one that shouldn't be coming from AN ADMIN. I'm staying FAR AWAY from the chat channel if he's going to be a power abusing asshole. Edit: I corrected a few typos. Edit 2: I uncorrected them because someone asked me too.

He didn't ban him until the guy started posting porn. Not nice, this is a public forum and ten year olds go here. From the sounds of it, it's rancid porn that would offend anyway, regardless of age. The Dragon got pissed off at Sarcast because he disagreed with what he said and said that he wasn't thinking about his constitutional rights. Despite the fact that although Sarcast had good reason to, he didn't actually take any actions against him other than words, which is apparently a right that only The Dragon has... look who's the arsehole now.

http://www.emuparadise.org/vbulletin...5&pagenumber=2 Read this one carefully. In it he says the most elitist things I've ever heard. I'm not saying he shouldn't have banned him. That was the smart thing to do. Posting porn when you know it's not allowed is stupid.

Onestroke, or should I call you OENSTOEK, you missed out on the action too? I'm surprised.

That was a very respectable thing you did, Zerostrike, PMing the guy. But I can understand his position - he feels strongly about his position and would refuse to "back down" as such an action would be umm ... disagreeable (I can't find the right word). Maybe embarrassing. If he had the guts to start the topic, he essentially feels the obligation to hold through to the end.

He PMed me baking saying that he couldn't do it
Hehe, I thought you said that he baked you.

An admin is supposed to keep things under control and "manage and supervise." Through his posts, perhaps ironically, I think that he elevated the issue even more. Again, I would like to say that I understand his position. But such "inflammatory" statements (especially threatening to ban snekadid) and perhaps what I would dare call "disrespect" was unprecedented and unwarranted. That's definitely not material I would expect coming from an admin, which is supposed to keep a lid on the situation.
