Who knows of any good downloading programs?

I have used Getright before on dialup and it did not lag my connection, but now it lags my connection badly even with a download limit. I would like to know about other programs that do not lag as badly as Getright does. Thanks.

I would go for flashget, I could get decent speeds with it when I was on dial-up

Before when I used flashget on somewhat better dialup, it still lagged, even with a speed limit. Any other suggestions? My connection is slow enough even without a download manager that lags.

Get download accerelator plus (free version). Hasn't lagged for me yet...

DAP is good.getright always gave me pretty crummy speeds.you can get it from www.download.com

Internet Download Manager gave me the best speeds. up to 100 kbps on 750 kbps connection. you can get it from:
www.internetdownloadmanager.com
but it'll cost you money after 3 months or so,so I use mass downloader,which is fine:
http://www.metaproducts.com/
but it's only a shareware as well.

Or, you could try netants, which I find to be the best. I tried Getright, Flashget, DAP, and got problems. I'm on broadband, but my internet used t disconnect.

Actually I think IDM lies about its speeds, I think I watched a five minute download all the way through once and didn't see it go over 4kb/s, but IDM claims it went to 8.

Netant is great no matter what your connection is, the only bad thing though, is that it has spyware /adware >.<

IDM doesn't lie,but it depends if the site let's it to segament the download. I can get 90 kbps easily with it,but that's with 750 kbps connection,not with 56k ofcourse.
